Head of Finance

(This role is open to either onsite or remote from anywhere in Australia. Available as a part-time or full-time role.)

About the Role


At Qwilr you will have the opportunity to work closely with our founders, investors and key stakeholders. This role is based in Sydney & you will report into one of our founders.

We are open to working with the right candidate on a part-time or a full time basis (with a minimum of 3 days per week).

We are very much a startup, so your role will be both operational, as well as strategic, having the ability to make and support decisions that impact the business. 


What You'll Do


  • Managing the budgeting and re-forecasting for the business, including revenue, expense, cash, and forex requirements
  • Creating financial modelling frameworks for various business models, revenue attribution and cost attribution that will help guide the business
  • Own full responsibility of annual Australian Tax filing, BAS, IAS and US tax obligations
  • Manage a team of bookkeepers
  • Owning monthly payroll for employees and overseas contractors
  • Owning the finance strategy, including the forecasting of cash / currency requirements and short term cash strategies
  • Preparing financial reports, monthly financial updates and analysis provided to founders, and investors, as well as helping the founders prepare quarterly board reports
  • Running and presenting regular management reports with operational information and commentary to assist business decisions
  • Researching and preparing the business for relevant grants
  • Assisting founders with fundraising
  • Getting involved with ad-hoc business projects and initiatives (we are a startup after all!)

  • About You

    Our ideal candidate will have

  • Ideally between 5 - 10 years of relevant experience, including at least a year in a commercial environment
  • CA/CPA (or equivalent) qualified
  • Experience with building and presenting management reports, budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and analysis
  • Advanced skills in using Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using Xero
  • Bonus points for experience working in SaaS &/or with US entities
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Self motivated with a desire to learn
  • Highly organised with the ability to work under pressure and within set deadlines
