May 4, 2020 — Qwilr, the document design and automation tool, has secured $7.25m in a Series A funding round from AirTree Ventures, Skip Capital, Typeform co-founder Robert Muñoz and other investors. The new funding will help Qwilr accelerate expansion into the US and Europe, and evolve the product to make customer communication even more seamless.

Previous investors Point Nine Capital, Right Click Capital, and Macdoch Ventures also re-invested in the round.

Qwilr makes it easy to create beautiful, intelligent and interactive sales documents, like proposals, quotes and pitches. As companies everywhere shift to remote working, sales teams are finding that PDFs and Powerpoints lack the collaboration, automation, interactivity and customer intelligence they need. Qwilr integrates with essential business tools like Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack and Xero, to automate essential business tasks for efficiency, from creating new proposals to updating CRMs. In-depth analytics give sales reps insight on how and when prospects are interacting with your documents.“Quite simply, Qwilr helps companies stand out from the crowd and win more business” said Qwilr co-founder and CEO Dylan Baskind.

“While incredible innovation in enterprise software is enabling teams to collaborate remotely, customer communication — the lifeblood of any business — is still stuck in the stone age. Qwilr makes it quick and easy to create bold, visually-striking and interactive documents that drive consistency, efficiency and increased close rates for every sales team. It’s more important than ever that customer communication moves from the 1980s into the 2020s” said Qwilr co-founder and COO Mark Tanner.

Born in Sydney, Qwilr previously raised $2 million to build a fast-growing SaaS business akin to other modern document startups like Airtable and Notion. Thousands of companies from more than 60 countries now use Qwilr.

At a time when many economies and businesses are contracting, the new investment round will enable Qwilr to accelerate growth through more engineering and product talent in Australia, and expand its customer facing teams in Europe and the US.

“It boggles my mind that sales and marketing reps still send PDFs to potential customers. The traditional business document suite is antiquated, clunky and lacking basic functionality, which should be table stakes in the age of the cloud and is even more imperative in a remote working economy. Having seen how much customers love the product, we are confident Qwilr’s smart, connected and beautiful documents will revolutionise the way businesses communicate. We are delighted to be backing such a strong company led by Dylan and Mark, and excited to support them build the documents of the future.”
John Henderson, Partner at Airtree Ventures
“The passion that Dylan and Mark have for transforming the way we communicate is inspiring. Just as Airtable is reinventing the spreadsheet, Qwilr is creating an entirely new form of communication without the inhibitions and obstacles older formats have.."
